The thing I feel proud of is that I received the second prize in a competition organized by our province’s calligraphy association. Chinese calligraphy is the writing of Chinese Characters as an art form, combing purely visual art and interpretation of the literary meaning. This type of expression has been widely practiced in my country and has been generally held in high esteem across East Asia.
我感到骄傲的事情是我在一次省书法协会组织的比赛里拿到了二等奖。中国书法是汉字的一种艺术形式，结合了视觉艺术与文字含义。这种表达方式在我的国家十分常见，在整个东亚也有较高的声誉。
I have been practicing this skill ever since I was a child. At first, it was because of the order of my parents, who believed good handwriting could gain me advantages in academic exams and workplaces. But with time passing by, I gradually fell in love with the peaceful state when I held the brush and concentrated on every stoke of the characters. So even after I left my parents and went to other cities to further my education, I did not give it up.
