The experience I am going to tell you about is that my cousin asked for my opinion about choosing a major. Since both of our parents were quite busy with their work and had no time to take care of us when we were little, we were actually brought up by our grandma together. So we have been pretty close since we were born.
It was several months ago. He just graduated from high school and passed the college entrance exam. It was time to choose his major in university. But he was confused facing so many choices. He did not know where his interest lay, and he did not even understand what the names of some programs suggest. He was stuck.
Then he turned to me for help. I was not an expert in picking a major, but as a university student, I had gone through the same troubles. So he thought I could share some experience and give some advice. Learning about his situation, I advised him to choose economics. Since he was not particularly interested in any area, it was better to put the employment prospect as the top priority. Economics was a pretty flexible major. This article is from laokaoya website. Previous graduates were distributed across various industries and received quite decent salaries. Apart from that, the subject itself was quite interesting. He should be able to benefit a lot from it.
I am actually quite proud of the advice. He did choose economics later and after a few months of study, he already found amusement in the subject.
