Yes, as we can see in our Chinese job market, the science graduates have more opportunities to get a decent job with good salary than those students majored in arts. Basically, not only students but also their parents think that science is quite an important subject to learn. In my high school, most students had chosen the arts because they didn’t get good scores at science subjects like math, physics, etc. Plus, only 6 out of 20 classes were arts-oriented classes. So you can see how popular science is in our country.
