It is often argued that in order to create a happy society, the gap between the earnings of the richest and the poorest should be narrowed. I think a monetary scale is not appropriate to measure the happiness level of a person; whether it is the rich or the poor.

Firstly, one should understand happiness is not a tangible thing to measure because most people define it in different ways. Similarly, the poor want more money to explore new horizons in their life, for example, a car or their own house. Yet happiness would not stay longer with them as they aim for new desires.

It should be understood that a happy society should meet all the basic needs and is to be updated with the developmental processes as per the technological and scientific advancements. For example, in a society in which smartphones and computers are popular, irrespective of the economic status, one can hardly distinguish the happiness level between the rich and the poor.
