The piece of equipment I am going to tell you about in my home is the modem, a device connecting the cellphones, computers, and all the smart furniture to the internet. It is usually shaped like a flattened box, with antennas on the top pointing in various directions to send signals and several ports at the back to be linked with the cable from the communication companies.
Due to its relatively small size and because it is always on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, I barely notice its existence in everyday life. This article is from Laokaoya website. I just know when I enter the apartment, my cellphone will automatically be connected to Wi-Fi, and with the cable plugged in, I can browse numerous websites, watch videos, and send and receive emails on my computer. Then one day, the modem suddenly broke down. I do not know why and how. It just stopped working.
That was when I realized how important it was. Without access to the internet, I felt I was isolated from the outside world and deprived of all the entertainment. I called the customer service of the communication company immediately and it said it would dispatch an engineer to check it out as soon as possible. 5 hours later, the engineer finally came. After going through everything, he found that it was the port. The component in it somehow fell off, jeopardizing the data exchange.
Another hour passed before the modem was fixed. The moment I saw the indicator light start to blink green instead of red, A genuine joy surfaced spontaneously. It was like I returned to modern civilization after living in the jungle for a month.
