Describe a person who persuaded you to do something and you were happy about that 劝你做某事的人

You should say:
Who he/she was
When/where it happened
What he/she persuaded you to do
And explain why you were happy

One person who persuaded me to do something and made me really happy about it was my cousin — the son of my mom’s sister. He’s three years older than me, and since our families live quite close to each other, we grew up together and have always been really close. He’s someone I’ve always looked up to — not only is he academically talented and respected at work, but he’s also open-minded and loves trying new things.
This happened last summer when both of our families took a trip to Qingdao, a beautiful seaside city. One afternoon, we were relaxing on the beach, and I saw some people surfing in the waves. I suddenly had a strong urge to try it myself, this article is from laokaoya website, even though I had never done anything like that before. But the moment I thought about standing on a surfboard in front of all those people, I started to hesitate. What if I couldn’t do it at all? Falling into the water and swallowing a bit of seawater was fine, but being watched and maybe laughed at — that really bothered me.
My cousin noticed me staring at the surfers in silence and immediately understood what was going through my mind. He came over and said, “We rarely get the chance to visit the seaside. If you don’t try it now, who knows when you’ll get another opportunity? Are you sure you want to leave this trip with regrets?” He also offered to go with me, saying that even if we made fools of ourselves, at least we’d have each other for company.
Thanks to his encouragement, I finally pushed past my fear and gave it a shot. Although I only managed to stay on the board for about ten seconds at best — and fell into the water countless times — I was overjoyed. I was proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone, and I was grateful to have my cousin by my side the whole time. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences of that trip, and I’m so glad I didn’t miss it.
