The quiet place I am going to tell you is a small cafe on my campus. It is located in the corner of the basement of our main building, and used to be a large storeroom and was converted into a cafe last year. Although I went to that building to take classes every day, I did not know it until quite recently. This article is from Laokaoya website. Do not copy or repost it. One day, after class, I accidentally found that, instead of returning to their dormitories straightaway, some of my classmates took the stairs to go down. So I was curious and decided to follow them and that is when I knew the cafe’s existence.
It was quite a nice place. The room was divided into several small sections by bookshelves, which had a lot of magazines, books, and fictions on them. Small tables were scattered in the room and there was a lamp on each one, which was made of copper and painted in green and brown. The room was pervaded with the fragrance of coffee.
Almost all the customers were students. Most of them were doing some reading. There were also others who were preparing slides or taking notes. When they talked with each other, they carefully kept their voice down. The only thing I could hear was the scrape between pens and papers and the faint sound from typing computer keyboard. Everything was so quiet that I felt it would be offensive if I made any noise. I love this cafe. It is a perfect place to read some books for relaxing.
