I’d like to share about Xu Beihong, a really famous Chinese painter. He was born at the end of the 19th century and is often seen as one of the greatest modern artists in China. Actually, his influence even went beyond China, reaching the international art world.

我想聊的人是徐悲鸿，一位非常著名的中国画家。他出生在19世纪末，被认为是中国现代最伟大的艺术家之一。其实，他的影响力不仅限于中国，还扩展到了整个国际艺术界。

I first knew about him from a text in my school textbook, maybe in primary or middle school. The story introduced his life in detail. He started learning painting and literature from his father when he was little, and his talent showed quite early. This article is from Laokaoya website. After his father passed away, he had to sell paintings to support himself. Later on, he studied at university and even traveled to Japan, France and Germany to learn art. Through all these experiences, he gradually built his own style and eventually became a true master.

我第一次知道他是在小学或者初中的语文课本里。有一篇文章详细介绍了他的一生。他从小就跟父亲学画和读书，很早就展现出了天赋。父亲去世后，他靠卖画维持生计。后来，他考上大学，还去了日本、法国和德国学习艺术。经过这些经历，他逐渐形成了自己的风格，最终成为一代大师。

It’s a bit hard to say what his greatest achievement is, because he created so many outstanding works. But the one I’m most familiar with is Galloping Horses. It shows eight horses running freely on the grassland. The way he drew their lines and movements is so smooth and powerful that you can almost feel the life and energy inside the painting.

要说他最大的成就其实挺难的，因为他创作了太多经典作品。但我最熟悉的一幅是《奔马》。画中八匹马在草原上自由奔跑。他用流畅的线条和有力的动作把生命力表现得淋漓尽致，让人仿佛身临其境。

The reason I think he’s really creative is that he managed to combine the free and expressive style of traditional Chinese painting with the realistic techniques of Western art. This mix created a style that was unique to him. When you look at his works, you don’t just see animals or people—you can actually feel their spirit. And I think that’s what makes him stand out as a truly creative artist.

我之所以觉得他很有创造力，是因为他把中国传统绘画的写意和西方艺术的写实手法结合了起来，创造了属于他自己的独特风格。看他的画，你不仅能看到动物或人物的形象，还能感受到背后所蕴含的精神。我觉得这正是让他与众不同、成为真正有创造力的艺术家的原因。
