A course that left a particularly strong impression on me was a CPR course I took at university about a year ago. CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and it’s an emergency procedure used when someone’s heart has stopped beating. The course also gave us a basic introduction to AEDs, which are devices that can be used in cases of cardiac arrest.
一门给我留下特别深刻印象的课程，是大约一年前我在大学参加的心肺复苏课程。CPR指的是心肺复苏，是在一个人的心脏停止跳动时使用的一种紧急救生措施。这门课程还向我们简单介绍了AED，也就是在发生心脏骤停时可以使用的自动体外除颤器。
The course was organized by a student society at my university. I actually found out about it completely by chance. One day, while I was waiting for the elevator, I noticed a leaflet on the wall advertising a series of CPR lessons that were open to any student who was interested. I’d always thought that knowing some basic first-aid skills could come in handy one day, so I immediately took a photo of the time and venue and signed up for it later.

The course was divided into two parts. During the first part, the instructor walked us through the basic steps of CPR. This article is from Laokaoya website. He demonstrated where to place our hands, how to position our bodies and how to maintain the correct rate and depth of chest compressions. He also showed us how an AED works and explained what we should do if one was available during an emergency.
课程主要分为两个部分。第一部分中，讲师带着我们一步一步学习了心肺复苏的基本操作。他向我们展示了双手应该放在什么位置、身体应该保持怎样的姿势，以及如何保持正确的胸外按压频率和深度。他还向我们演示了AED如何工作，并解释了如果紧急情况下附近有AED，我们应该怎么做。
The second half was much more hands-on. We took turns practising CPR on training manikins while the instructor watched us closely and corrected our technique. At first, I was a little nervous because I’d never done anything like that before. I soon realized that maintaining the right rhythm and compression depth was more physically demanding than it looked. After several attempts, though, I gradually got the hang of it.

What impressed me most was how practical the course was. Before taking it, I’d always assumed that CPR was something mainly performed by doctors or other medical professionals. The course made me realize that ordinary people can also learn lifesaving skills and potentially make a real difference in an emergency. Hopefully I’ll never have to use CPR in real life, but knowing that I could step in and help if necessary gives me a great deal of confidence.
最让我印象深刻的是这门课程非常实用。在参加课程之前，我一直以为心肺复苏主要是医生或者其他医护人员才会进行的操作。这门课让我意识到，普通人同样可以学习救生技能，并且在紧急情况下真的有可能发挥重要作用。我当然希望自己永远不需要在现实生活中使用心肺复苏，但知道如果有必要的话自己能够站出来提供帮助，还是给了我很大的信心。
