收藏东西是一种很常见的爱好。有些人喜欢收藏邮票、硬币、玩具或者纪念品，也有人并没有特别的收藏习惯。雅思口语Part 1并不要求大家一定给出肯定的回答，因此，如果自己平时确实不收藏东西，直接说明没有这个习惯，再简单解释原因或者讲讲过去的经历就可以。

Do you collect things? 你收集东西吗？

Not really. I know some people really enjoy collecting things, and I actually tried collecting stamps for a while when I was younger. But I didn’t find it that interesting, so I gave it up after about a month. These days, I’d rather spend my time on other things, especially my studies.

不太会。我知道有些人非常喜欢收藏东西，我小时候其实也尝试过收集一段时间的邮票。不过，我并没有觉得这件事特别有意思，所以大约一个月之后就放弃了。现在，我更愿意把时间花在其他事情上，尤其是学习。

Are there any things you keep from childhood? 有什么东西是你从小时候一直保存到现在的吗？

Yes. I still have a silver pendant that my grandpa gave me on my first birthday. It’s shaped like a traditional Chinese lock and has some intricate patterns on it, along with Chinese characters wishing the wearer a long and healthy life. I’ve kept it all these years because it means a lot to me.

有。我现在还保存着一个爷爷在我一周岁生日时送给我的银质吊坠。它被做成中国传统长命锁的形状，上面刻着精美的花纹以及祝愿佩戴者健康长寿的汉字。这么多年来我一直保存着它，因为它对我来说很有纪念意义。

Would you keep old things for a long time? Why? 你会保留旧东西很长时间吗？为什么？

It depends on what it is. If something has sentimental value or brings back good memories, like the necklace I mentioned earlier, I’ll probably keep it forever. This article is from Laokaoya website. I even make sure it’s packed carefully whenever I move. But if it’s just an everyday item like a chair or a toothbrush, I’ll get rid of it once it’s broken or worn out.

这要看具体是什么东西。如果一件东西对我有特殊的纪念意义，或者能让我想起一些美好的回忆，比如我刚才提到的那条项链，我可能会一直把它保存下去。甚至每次搬家的时候，我都会确保把它仔细包装好。不过，如果只是椅子或者牙刷之类的日常用品，一旦坏掉或者用旧了，我就会把它扔掉。

Where do you usually keep things you need? 你通常将自己用的东西放在哪里？

I have a particular drawer in my desk where I keep all my important documents and belongings, such as my diploma, transcripts, certificates and my ID card. I put them in different folders, so whenever I need something, I know exactly where to find it.

我的书桌里有一个专门的抽屉，用来存放重要的文件和物品，比如我的毕业证、成绩单、各种证书以及身份证。我会把它们分别放在不同的文件夹里，这样需要某样东西的时候，我就知道去哪里找。
