The place I’d like to talk about is a huge park on the outskirts of my city. What makes it slightly unusual is that it wasn’t originally designed as an urban park. It’s actually built around a natural mountain. Over the past decade or so, the local government has gradually added roads, walking trails and viewing platforms, making the area much more accessible to ordinary residents while still preserving much of its natural landscape.

我想说的是一座位于城市边缘的大型公园。它比较特别的一点是，这里最初并不是一座专门设计的城市公园，而是围绕一座天然山体逐渐建设起来的。在过去十年左右，当地政府陆续修建了道路、步道和观景平台，让普通市民更容易进入这一区域，同时又保留了很大一部分原本的自然景观。

I normally go there at weekends, especially when the weather is nice, and most of the time I go on my own. Since the park is enormous, I can easily spend two or three hours walking around without getting bored. There are trails winding their way up the mountain, dense patches of woodland and quite a few viewing platforms where you can stop and take in the scenery.

我通常周末的时候会去那里，尤其是天气比较好的时候，而且大多数情况下我都是一个人去。由于公园面积非常大，我可以轻轻松松在里面逛上两三个小时而不会觉得无聊。公园里有沿着山坡蜿蜒向上的步道、大片茂密的树林，还有不少观景平台，可以停下来欣赏周围的景色。

One thing I particularly like is that the park changes dramatically with the seasons. In spring, everything starts turning green again and the whole mountain seems to come back to life. In summer, the thick canopy provides plenty of shade from the scorching sun. This article is from Laokaoya website. Autumn is probably the most spectacular season because some of the leaves turn brilliant shades of red and orange. And after heavy snow in winter, the entire mountain is covered in white and becomes almost unrecognizable.

我特别喜欢的一点是，这座公园随着季节变化会呈现出截然不同的景色。到了春天，各种植物重新变绿，整座山似乎都恢复了生机。夏天，茂密的树冠可以遮挡灼热的阳光。秋天可能是一年中景色最漂亮的时候，因为部分树叶会变成非常鲜艳的红色和橙色。而冬天下过大雪之后，整座山都会被白雪覆盖，几乎让人认不出来。

Another highlight for me is the wildlife, especially the squirrels. They’re surprisingly easy to spot. I often see them darting across the grass, scampering up tree trunks or sitting on branches. Sometimes I’ll stop for a few minutes just to watch them or try to get a decent photo before they disappear into the trees. It’s a tiny thing, but spotting one unexpectedly can genuinely make my day.

对我来说，另一个亮点就是这里的野生动物，尤其是松鼠。它们其实出乎意料地容易看到。我经常能看到它们飞快地穿过草地、爬上树干，或者坐在树枝上。有时候我会停下来观察几分钟，或者趁它们钻进树林之前试着拍一张不错的照片。这其实只是一件很小的事情，但偶然看到一只松鼠真的能够让我一整天心情都很好。

Perhaps the biggest reason I keep going back, though, is that the park gives me some much-needed time to myself. I live in a university dormitory, so I’m surrounded by other students almost around the clock. After a busy week of classes and constantly being around other people, I sometimes crave a bit of peace and quiet. Going for a long walk there gives me a chance to clear my head, enjoy my own company and temporarily switch off from everything else. That’s probably what I value most about the place.

不过，我一次又一次去那里的最大原因，可能还是这座公园能够给我一些非常需要的独处时间。我住在大学宿舍里，所以几乎一天到晚身边都有其他同学。经历了一周繁忙的课程，而且一直和其他人待在一起之后，我有时候会特别渴望一点安静的时间。一个人在公园里走很长一段路，可以让我清醒一下头脑、享受独处，并暂时把其他事情都放到一边。这可能也是我最珍惜这个地方的一点。
