The shop I’d like to talk about is a puzzle toy store whose name can be roughly translated as “Open Only to Smart People.” The name itself sounds quite challenging and provocative, which immediately made me want to step in and test whether I was “qualified” to be one of those smart people. I have to admit, the name alone is a brilliant marketing idea — at least it successfully attracted me.

我想跟你聊聊我喜欢去的一家益智玩具店。它的名字可以翻译为“只对聪明人开放”，充满了挑衅的意味，让人忍不住想进去看看，检验自己是否达到聪明人的标准。我得承认，这个名字起的很成功，最起码吸引了我。

This store is hidden in a narrow alley just behind my high school, and it’s so secluded that you might wonder whether the owner actually wants to make money. I discovered it by accident one day when I tried to take a shortcut on my way home. The moment I pushed open the door, I was completely fascinated.

这家店在我高中后面的一条小巷子里，非常隐蔽。你甚至会怀疑老板把店开在这里到底是不是为了赚钱。如果不是因为有一次我想抄近路回家的话，我永远都不会知道它的存在。但当我被店名所吸引，推开门进去的一瞬间，我就被迷住了。

Inside, the shop is full of all kinds of puzzle toys — from traditional Chinese ones like Luban locks and Nine Linked Rings to many modern and creative designs that I had never seen before. Honestly, most people can’t solve the puzzles within that time, and the desire to prove themselves usually makes them buy the toys to continue the challenge at home. I was definitely one of them.
