Who do you live with? 你和谁住在一起？
Right now, I live with a few close friends of mine. We’re all students at China Agricultural University, so living together is quite convenient. We get along really well, and it’s nice to have friends around when I get home after a long day at university.
目前我和几个关系很好的朋友住在一起。我们都是中国农业大学的学生，所以住在一起也挺方便的。大家相处得很好，而且在学校待了一整天之后，回到家还有朋友在身边，我觉得挺不错的。
What kind of housing/accommodation do you live in? 你住在什么样的房子里？
I live in a medium-sized apartment with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. It’s nothing luxurious, but we have plenty of space for the three of us and everything we need for everyday life, so I’m pretty happy with it.
我住在一套中等大小的公寓里，里面有三个卧室、两个卫生间、一个厨房和一个客厅。虽然谈不上豪华，但我们三个人住空间完全够用，而且日常生活需要的东西基本都有，所以我还是挺满意的。
Do you live in a house or a flat? 你住在独栋住宅还是公寓里？
I live in a flat in Haidian District in Beijing. It’s a three-bedroom apartment that I share with a few friends from university. The location is quite convenient because there are shops, restaurants, and public transport nearby.
我住在北京海淀区的一套公寓里。这是一套三居室，我和几个大学里的朋友一起住。这里的位置挺方便的，因为附近就有商店、餐馆以及公共交通。
What’s the difference between where you are living now and where you have lived in the past? 你现在住的地方和过去住的地方有什么区别？
The biggest difference is probably who I live with. I used to live with my family in my hometown, but now I share an apartment with my friends. This article is from Laokaoya website. I have a lot more independence now, but it also means I have to do things like cleaning and other household chores myself. My room is probably a bit messier than it was when I lived with my parents.

Sure. It’s a three-bedroom apartment, and I’d say it’s a pretty comfortable size. I have the master bedroom, so I’ve got quite a lot of space for my clothes and other things. We also have a shared living room and kitchen, where my roommates and I sometimes hang out or have meals together.

Which room does your family spend most of the time in? 你的家人大部分时间待在哪个房间？
Probably the living room. That’s where the TV is, and my family really enjoys watching films and TV shows together. We also sit there and chat after dinner, so it’s probably the room where we spend the most time together when I’m back home.
应该是客厅。我们家的电视在那里，而且家里人都挺喜欢一起看电影和电视剧。晚饭之后，我们有时候也会坐在那里聊天，所以当我回家的时候，客厅应该是我们一家人待在一起时间最长的地方。
How long have you lived there? 你在那里住多久了？
I’ve lived in my current apartment for about two years. Before that, I spent the first eighteen years of my life living with my family in my hometown. I didn’t actually move away from home until I started university, so moving into this apartment was quite a big change for me.
我在现在这套公寓里住了大约两年。在此之前，我人生的前18年基本都是和家人一起住在家乡。实际上，我一直到上大学才第一次离开家住，所以搬进现在这套公寓对我来说还是一个挺大的变化。
What do you usually do in your house/flat/room? 你平时在家里或者房间里做什么？
To be honest, I don’t spend that much time in my apartment because I prefer going out when I’m free. When I am at home, though, I mostly just relax. I might watch TV in the living room, listen to music in bed, or sometimes just lie down and scroll through my phone for a while.
老实说，我在公寓里待的时间并不是特别多，因为有空的时候我更喜欢出去。不过待在家的时候，我基本就是放松一下。我可能会在客厅看看电视，在床上听听音乐，有时候也会躺着刷一会儿手机。
Do you plan to live there for a long time? 你打算在那里长期住下去吗？
Probably not. I’ve really enjoyed living there, but the rent is a little higher than I’d like. I might move sometime in the next few months if I can find somewhere cheaper that’s still reasonably close to my university. So it really depends on what I can find.
应该不会。我其实挺喜欢住在这里的，不过房租比我希望的稍微贵了一点。如果接下来几个月能够找到一套价格更便宜、同时离学校也不算太远的房子，我可能会搬走。所以最终还是要看能不能找到合适的地方。
Are the transport facilities to your home very good? 你家附近的交通方便吗？
Yes, they’re really good. There are several bus stops nearby, and I can also get to a subway station quite easily, so getting around Beijing isn’t too difficult. I also use shared bikes quite a lot, especially for short trips around the neighborhood.
是的，非常方便。附近有好几个公交车站，而且去地铁站也很方便，所以在北京出行并不算困难。我也经常骑共享单车，尤其是去附近一些地方的时候。
Please describe the room you live in. 请描述一下你住的房间。
I really like my bedroom. It’s the master bedroom, so it’s the biggest bedroom in the apartment and I have plenty of space for my things. I’ve got a large wardrobe for my clothes, as well as a TV and a good pair of speakers. I spend quite a lot of time listening to music in there, so it’s a really comfortable space for me.
我很喜欢自己的卧室。它是主卧，所以也是公寓里最大的卧室，我有足够的空间放自己的东西。房间里有一个放衣服的大衣柜，还有一台电视和一套不错的音响。我经常在房间里听音乐，所以对我来说，这是一个很舒服的私人空间。
Do you prefer living in a house or a flat? 你更喜欢住独栋住宅还是公寓？
At the moment, I definitely prefer living in a flat. I’m still quite young, and I don’t need that much space, so an apartment is easier to clean and look after. In the future, though, if I have a family, I’d probably prefer a house because I’d want more space for my children and maybe a garden as well.
目前我肯定更喜欢住公寓。我现在还比较年轻，并不需要特别大的空间，而且公寓打扫和维护起来也更加容易。不过以后如果我有了自己的家庭，我可能会更喜欢独栋住宅，因为我希望孩子们能有更多活动空间，最好还能有一个花园。

This might sound like a strange answer, but my favorite thing about my home isn’t actually a particular room. It’s the fact that I get to live with some of my best friends. Actually, the view is one of my favorite things about the apartment. From my window, I have a really good view of Haidian Tower and some of the surrounding buildings. Whenever friends come over for the first time, they usually walk over to the window and comment on how good the view is.

Is your home far from here? 你家离这里远吗？
No, not really. It’s about a twenty-five-minute walk from here, and it’s even quicker if I take the bus. That’s actually how I got here this morning, and the journey was pretty easy. So I’d say my home is quite close.
不算远。从这里走回家大概需要25分钟，如果坐公交车的话还会更快。我今天早上其实就是坐公交车过来的，路上很方便。所以总体来说，我家离这里还是挺近的。
